Declaration
on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

November 12, 2010
Today, Canada joins other countries in
supporting the United Nations Declaration on the
Rights of Indigenous Peoples. In doing so,
Canada reaffirms its commitment to promoting and
protecting the rights of Indigenous peoples at
home and abroad.
The Government of Canada would like to
acknowledge the Aboriginal men and women who
played an important role in the development of
this Declaration.
The Declaration is an aspirational document
which speaks to the individual and collective
rights of Indigenous peoples, taking into
account their specific cultural, social and
economic circumstances. (More)

Aujourd'hui, le Canada se joint aux pays qui ont
déjà appuyé la Déclaration des Nations Unies sur
les droits des peuples autochtones. Par ce geste,
le Canada réaffirme sa détermination à
promouvoir et à protéger les droits des peuples
autochtones, aussi bien au pays que dans le
monde entier.
Le gouvernement du Canada tient à saluer les
hommes et les femmes autochtones qui ont joué un
rôle important dans l'élaboration de cette
déclaration.
La Déclaration est un document d'aspirations qui
porte sur les droits individuels et collectifs
des peuples autochtones et qui tient compte de
leur culture et de leur situation socio-économique
